This piece had its beginnings as my final composition project during my freshman year at Wayne State University. While it does call for a piano in the score, the piece is actually for unaccompanied solo horn; instead, there are certain points in the piece where the performer plays into the piano while holding down the sustain pedal to create sonorities which eventually fade away. While I originally only wrote this piece according to two sets of rules according to the final, I revisited this piece in preparation for my senior composition recital and added in ideas that more closely reflected all of the things I learned during my time at Wayne, including my dive into jazz music during my senior year.
